BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide — fifteen amino acids corresponding to a partial sequence of body protection compound, a peptide isolated from human gastric juice. The full sequence is Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val (GEPPPGKPADDAGLV), with a molecular formula of C62H98N16O22 and a molecular weight of 1419.53 g/mol.
The sequence carries no disulfide bridges and no cyclic structure, which distinguishes it from more conformationally complex research peptides.
The published literature examines BPC-157 across several distinct model systems: angiogenic signalling and vascular endothelial growth factor expression, fibroblast behaviour in tendon and ligament preparations, and intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.
Its research interest lies substantially in the breadth of tissue types in which effects have been reported from a single short sequence — a pattern that has drawn both attention and methodological scrutiny. Much of the primary work originates from a small number of research groups, and the extent of independent replication remains a relevant question when evaluating the literature.
For a fuller treatment of the sequence, published models and technical data, see the BPC-157 research guide. Researchers comparing repair-model compounds may also find the BPC-157 vs TB-500 comparison useful.
CAS number 137525-51-0. Supplied as a white lyophilized powder, soluble in water. This batch assayed at 99.70% purity, verified by HPLC and LC-MS at ILS Lab.
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic or sterile water, introducing the diluent against the vial wall and swirling gently rather than shaking. Store lyophilized at −20°C protected from light; refrigerate at 2–8°C once reconstituted.
Ships with a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis. Cross-check the batch ID printed on your vial against the CoA before use — see the guide to reading a CoA if you are unfamiliar with the format.
Research-grade BPC-157 is typically supplied at 98% or above, with reputable suppliers reporting 99%+. This batch assayed at 99.70% by HPLC with identity confirmed by LC-MS at ILS Lab. Purity alone is not the whole picture — an HPLC figure tells you what proportion of the sample is the target compound, while mass spectrometry confirms the compound is the sequence claimed. Both belong on a Certificate of Analysis.
More stable than many research peptides of comparable length. The sequence contains no cysteine residues and therefore no disulfide bridges to reduce, and no cyclic structure to disrupt — the two most common failure points in peptide handling. Lyophilized and stored at −20°C protected from light, it remains stable long-term. Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2–8°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Bacteriostatic or sterile water. It is water-soluble and requires no acidic diluent or organic solvent. Introduce the diluent slowly against the inner wall of the vial rather than directly onto the lyophilized powder, and swirl gently — never shake. For multi-withdrawal use, bacteriostatic water contains a preservative that plain sterile water does not.
They act through different mechanisms, which is why the comparison matters. BPC-157 is studied largely through angiogenic and growth-factor signalling; TB-500 has a well-characterised mechanism in actin sequestration, bearing on cell motility and cytoskeletal reorganisation. Neither substitutes for the other, and the side-by-side comparison sets out how the evidence bases differ. Studies pairing them typically use the combined preparation.
